Toronto, May 30, 2017Bullfrog Power, Canada’s leading green energy provider, and Less Emissions Inc. are announcing an environmental partnership with Canada C3, an expedition that aims to engage millions of Canadians from across the country, both virtually and on board the Canada C3 ship.

Through the agreement, Bullfrog Power will provide green electricity for the Canada C3 “Ship t’ Shore” events across the country as well as green fuel for the first leg of the Canada C3 Expedition. This will be the first time that Bullfrog’s green fuel has been used to reduce the impact of ship travel in Canada. The impact of the remaining legs of the journey will be addressed by high-quality offsets from Less Emissions Inc., a sister company to Bullfrog Power.

Canada C3 is a Signature Project for Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation. The centrepiece is an epic 150-day sailing journey from Toronto to Victoria via the Northwest Passage. Through this unprecedented journey, Canada C3 will celebrate our environment, share the stories of coastal communities and connect Canadians from coast to coast to coast.

“The Canada C3 expedition is an inspiring example of how we can all do more to understand the vastness of our country and empower people to take action to protect our environment and make more sustainable choices,” said Ron Seftel, CEO, Bullfrog Power. “The hands-on experiences of the participants and the interactions with communities throughout the journey are important opportunities to recognize the impacts of climate change and send the message to all Canadians that there is action that we can all take today to help transition to a renewably-powered future.”

Bullfrog Power’s producers will inject renewable energy into the grid to match the amount of conventional electricity used during the “Ship t’ Shore” events, which will be occurring throughout the 150-day journey. Bullfrog’s green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities.

For the expedition’s first leg from Toronto to Montreal, Bullfrog Power will ensure that renewable fuel is injected into the Canadian fuel system to mitigate the carbon emissions being created by the conventional fuel used by the Canada C3 expedition vessel. Bullfrog Power’s green fuel is an earth-friendly, renewable alternative to fossil fuel, enabling climate-conscious organizations in Canada to reduce the environmental impact of their transportation. Bullfrog Power sources from biodiesel producers that repurpose waste streams from food and feed manufacturing, and cooking oils from restaurants and kitchen facilities.

For the remaining legs of the Canada C3 expedition, carbon offsets will be provided by Less Emissions Inc. to offset the remaining carbon emissions that will created by the ship’s travels.

“One of the Canada C3 expedition goals is to foster a greater appreciation for our natural environment. As we travel Canada’s coasts, we will come face-to-face with the impacts of climate change, particularly on our country’s northern communities,” said Geoff Green, Founder, Executive Director & Expedition Leader, Canada C3. “By partnering with Bullfrog Power and Less Emissions, we’re able to reduce the environmental impact of both the Canada C3 expedition vessel and the energy used by our ‘Ship t’ Shore’ events.”
