Audits
Green energy you can trustÂ
Green energy isn’t something you can see or touch, but you can still be confident that you’re getting what you pay for. We take transparency seriously, which is why we undergo a voluntary green energy audit every year.
Bullfrog pioneered the concept of an annual audit for green electricity retailers when we launched in 2005. We also created audits for green natural gas (2011) and green fuel (2016) when we first introduced those products.Â
Our green energy products are based on a legally binding contract, where we’re obligated under the law to retire green energy attributes on your behalf.
Our audits, performed by Deloitte, assess whether the renewable energy sold to our customers and retired on their behalf is fairly stated, in all material respects, in accordance with the criteria outlined in the below report.

Transparent methodologyÂ
Whether you need a defensible estimate of your organization’s emissions reductions, or you’re just curious about how your carbon reductions are calculated, you’re in the right place.Â
We use information from Environment Canada’s National Inventory Report: Greenhouse Gas Sources and Sinks in Canada to estimate the CO2e reductions that can be attributed to each MWh of green electricity and m3 or GJ of green natural gas.Â
Our calculations are based on the average provincial CO2e emissions intensity in Canada. We’re committed to providing customers emissions reductions that meet — and in many cases exceed — this national average.Â
You can learn more about our calculation methodologies below.Â
