Audits
Green energy you can trust
Green energy isn’t something you can see or touch, but you can still be confident that you’re getting what you pay for. We take transparency seriously, which is why we undergo a voluntary green energy audit every year.
Bullfrog pioneered the concept of an annual audit for green electricity retailers when we launched in 2005. We also created an audit for green natural gas (2011) when we first introduced that product.
Our green energy products are based on a legally binding contract, where we’re obligated under the law to retire green energy attributes on your behalf.
Our audits, performed by Deloitte, assess whether the renewable energy sold to our customers and retired on their behalf is fairly stated, in all material respects, in accordance with the criteria outlined in the below report.
You can download all of our audits or view our emissions reductions data and methodology below.

Transparent methodology
Whether you need a defensible estimate of your organization’s emissions reductions, or you’re just curious about how your carbon reductions are calculated, you’re in the right place.
We use information from Environment Canada’s National Inventory Report: Greenhouse Gas Sources and Sinks in Canada to estimate the CO2e reductions that can be attributed to each MWh of green electricity and m3 or GJ of green natural gas.
Our calculations are based on the average provincial CO2e emissions intensity in Canada. We’re committed to providing customers emissions reductions that meet — and in many cases exceed — this national average.
You can learn more about our calculation methodologies below.

Your Credit Union
Credit unions exist to serve their members—it’s a commitment to community and people that sets co-operatives apart from traditional businesses. At Your Credit Union, we see a connection between putting people and the planet first. With our green energy commitment, we’re strengthening that connection and doing our part to take action on climate change.
Upper Canada College
We want our students to enter the working world with a mature understanding of their role in promoting sustainability and environmental good citizenship. That means we need to walk the talk on our school grounds and in everything we do. The switch to Bullfrog Power is one good example of how we’re doing this.
Toronto and Region Conservation
Since we provided critical seed funding to build Toronto’s first urban wind turbine, it was a natural progression for the Toronto Community Foundation to use the clean energy supplied by Bullfrog.
