Quadient signs on for clean, pollution-free energy with Bullfrog Power

Monday April 14, 2014

Toronto—Bullfrog Power, Canada’s leading green energy provider, announced today that Quadient a mailing equipment and software solutions provider, has chosen 100 per cent green electricity and 100 per cent green natural gas for its Canadian facilities. In addition, Quadient will be bullfrogpowering all installations of mailing systems for new customers across Canada with renewable electricity. By choosing clean, green energy with Bullfrog Power, Quadient is reducing its environmental impact and supporting the growth of green energy projects in Canada.

“By choosing Bullfrog Power’s green energy for our facilities, Quadient is taking meaningful action on climate change,” says Lou Gizzarelli, President, Quadient. “Our bullfrogpowered mailing systems are a first for the industry in Canada and demonstrate our commitment to provide our customers with greener mail solution options.”

Through the multi-year agreement, Bullfrog Power’s generators will put 100 per cent green electricity onto the grid to match the power consumption of Quadient’s facilities and the mail machines used by customers new to Quadient. Across Canada, Bullfrog’s green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities. Sourced from a unique, ground-breaking methane-capture project situated on one of Canada’s thousands of landfill sites, Bullfrog’s green natural gas is a climate-friendly alternative to conventional, polluting natural gas. Through this innovative technology, biogas is captured, cleaned up, and put onto the national natural gas pipeline, displacing fossil fuel-based gas and reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

“What’s most interesting about our partnership with Quadient is that they are taking into consideration both the organization’s emissions and, by bullfrogpowering their new customers’ mailing systems, the emissions from the power these customers use to operate their Quadient products,” says Peter Melanson, CEO, Bullfrog Power.

In addition to choosing green energy with Bullfrog Power, Quadient minimizes the environmental impact of its products throughout their entire life cycles, from the product development stage to the end-of-life recycling stage, including production, shipping and usage. Quadient’s eco-friendly design policy has allowed it to cut the weight of its latest machines by approximately 40 per cent while also cutting the amount of components used in manufacturing by 10 per cent.
