Green electricity source

The Courbe-du-Sault Hydro Power Plant is a 25 MW low-impact hydro facility on the Sheldrake River in Rivière-au-Tonnerre, Quebec. It’s operated by the Sheldrake River Energy Corporation Inc. and is the result of a partnership between the MRC of Minganie, the Innus of Ekuanitshit, and AXOR.

The Courbe-du-Sault project is actively involved in its region’s Atlantic salmon enhancement program. Spawners are raised at the powerhouse, upstream of the impassable waterfall, in the hope of restoring the salmon in the Sheldrake River. A seeding program has also been in place since 2015. Eggs are housed in incubators located in the hydroelectric facility, so the fry are born in the water of the river and are launched in the spring of each year.

This is a former energy source for Bullfrog Power.
