Partner: Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC)

A unique partnership between Bullfrog Power, MEC and the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC) is helping preserve the legacy of Vancouver’s first ever grid-tied solar installation. The 3 kW project, constructed in 2005 on the SPEC energy demonstration centre, needed to be relocated when its building was scheduled to be torn down. MEC offered its Broadway store as a new home for the solar project, and in 2014 as a result of funding provided by Bullfrog, the panels were relocated. Thanks to the partnership, the project continues to educate Canadians about the benefits of solar energy to this day.

About our community projects

Activists and organizers across the country are working to transition their communities away from fossil fuels. We created our community-based green energy projects grant to provide critical funding for these local efforts.

All bullfrogpowered customers help fund these small-scale, community-led projects, including solar panels on schools and in Indigenous communities, education and training programs, and a cleantech accelerator.
