Solar | Community project we're supporting

Partner: Town of Vulcan

Thanks to a partnership amongĀ Bullfrog Power, Peavey Mart and the Town of Vulcan, Alberta,Ā Canadaā€™s first solar park is boldly going where no solar project has gone before.

The Vulcan Solar Park is an integrated community green space and renewable energy facility that will generate 23.5 kW of renewable electricity for the community. The design and development of the solar parkĀ involved local studentsā€”and the site will include learning modules on solar power to furtherĀ educate both visitors and community.

About our community projects

Activists and organizers across the country are working to transition their communities away from fossil fuels. We created our community-based green energy projects grant to provide critical funding for these local efforts.

All bullfrogpowered customers help fund these small-scale, community-led projects, including solar panels on schools and in Indigenous communities, education and training programs, and a cleantech accelerator.

Kew Beach Junior Public School Solar Project

In September 2016, Bullfrog and the Beach Community Energy Co-operative launched a 72 kW solar project on the roof of Kew Beach Junior Public School. The project will, in combination with the schoolā€™s existing solar installation, generate the equivalent to one third of the schoolā€™s annual electricity use.

Inuvik Ski Club Solar Project

In the Town of Inuvikā€”which enjoys one of the longest ski seasons in the worldā€”Bullfrog supported the installation of a 5 kW solar installation on the roof of the ski clubā€™s building.
