Green electricity source

Since 1981, the non-profit Wind Energy Institute of Canada (WEICan) has been advancing the development of wind energy across Canada through research, testing, innovation, and collaboration. Commissioned in 2013, WEICan’s 10 MW Wind R&D Park generates clean, renewable electricity to help support WEICan’s mandate.

In 2021, WEICan added 109 kW of PV solar to the project, along with a 111.5 kW/223 kWh battery energy storage system, which will provide additional opportunities to increase understanding of how to improve grid integration of renewable energy.
