Bullfrog Nature restores Canadian forests and waters through verified tree and kelp planting projects. It’s a tangible way for individuals and organizations to make a direct, local environmental impact. Each purchase plants a tree or kelp in a verified reforestation or seaforestation project and comes with a digital certificate as proof of planting.
A nature-based solution uses the natural environment (forests, wetlands, and oceans) to help address environmental challenges like climate change. Tree and kelp planting are two of the most common examples: as they grow, trees and kelp absorb CO₂ from the atmosphere while also supporting biodiversity, soil and ocean health, and clean air and water.
Since 2005, we’ve been on a mission to create a cleaner Canada. Our forests and oceans play a vital role in the global carbon cycle and are facing increased pressures due to climate change. That’s why we’ve created Bullfrog Nature, to restore Canada’s ecosystems and help clean the air and water that we depend on today.
Terrestrial forests and kelp forests are two of the most effective natural carbon sinks on the planet. Canada's boreal forest alone makes up 24% of the world's total, and as part of global restoration commitments like the Bonn Challenge, Canada is targeting 19 million hectares of degraded land for restoration by 2030. Similarly, kelp forests are critical for coastal ecosystems, protecting coastlines, providing habitat and food for marine life, capturing carbon, and supporting cultural and economic wellbeing. However, due to climate change and human disruptions, kelp forests along Canada's Pacific coast have declined between 60 to 99% since the 1970s.

Deploying tracking technology, every tree and kelp planting is traced, monitored, and measured, delivering meaningful benefits to both ecosystems and communities.

Our projects & their impact
All Bullfrog Nature tree and kelp planting projects improve ecosystem resilience through the planting of trees and kelp that support the growth of native species and biodiversity. Biodiverse forests and waters are more resilient to pests, diseases, and changing climate conditions. Additionally, they help clean the air and waters as natural carbon sinks.
Forest restoration (commonly known as reforestation) is one of the most powerful tools available to heal damaged ecosystems. By planting trees in cleared or degraded land, restoration actively addresses several interconnected environmental concerns simultaneously: rising atmospheric carbon, collapsing biodiversity, unstable soils, and increasing vulnerability to natural disasters.
Wildfires are a natural part of many landscapes, but high-intensity fires, including the increasingly frequent ones we’ve seen in recent years, can leave behind destruction that nature struggles to repair on its own. Burned land often loses the seed sources and stable soil it needs to regenerate naturally, which can lead to erosion, habitat loss, and long-term carbon release. By stepping in to restore post-wildfire forests, we accelerate recovery, prevent cascading damage, and rebuild ecosystems that provide critical benefits to both people and wildlife.
Kelp forests are environmental powerhouses: they help pull carbon out of the water, act as safe homes for up to 1,000 species, and protect our shorelines from storm damage, all while requiring zero freshwater or land. Kelp grow up to 1% of their total length in one day.

Each Bullfrog Nature project supports the restoration of local wildlife, including:
- The Post-Wildfire Restoration Project in British Columbia helps to restore Black Bear, Cougar, Moose, and Salmon species.
- The Post-Wildfire Restoration Project in Alberta helps to restore Moose, Black Bear, Hare, and White-Tailed Deer species.
- The Kelp Seaforestation Project in British Columbia helps to restore Rockfish, Scallop, Oyster, and Shrimp species.
- The Forest Restoration Project in Sudbury, Ontario helps to restore Canada Geese, Red Squirrel, Ringneck Snake, and White-Tailed Deer species.
In collaboration with local Indigenous communities, the Kelp Seaforestation Project and the Post-Wildfire Restoration Project in British Columbia integrate Indigenous knowledge to ensure sustainable and culturally rooted planting initiatives. This includes safeguarding cultural traditions and engaging local communities to help plant native species.
Verification and the Impact Explorer
Bullfrog Power (creator of Bullfrog Nature) conducts a voluntary third-party annual audit to ensure that all purchases are accurately accounted for on our customers’ behalf. Additionally, all reforestation and seaforestation projects are uniquely verified and tracked for long-term transparency and accountability. Each tree or kelp unit is digitized and linked to your own Impact Explorer, giving you a clear, permanent view of your purchase's environmental impact and the benefits it creates.

In addition, our planting partners use site technology including geospatial data layers, climate sensors, and bioacoustic monitoring to verify and track each planting.
The Impact Explorer is your personal digital record of your planting, including the full details of your specific tree or kelp purchase. Every purchase is verified, tracked, and digitized, so you can see exactly where it's planted, which species you're supporting, and the impact it's making. If you've placed multiple orders, you can access them all in the Impact Gallery, where you can search by order number and explore every purchase you've made.
Your personal Impact Explorer displays:
- Species planted (e.g., White Spruce — Picea glauca)
- Planting location and project name
- Estimated CO₂ sequestered over the lifespan of a tree (applies to tree planting only)
- Age of sapling at planting and years to maturity (applies to tree planting only)
- Planting window (season)

If you opt-in to display your name on the Impact Explorer, it’ll appear publicly to those who have access to your page. Your Impact Explorer is only accessible to those you share it with. To find one, you need the order ID it's tied to, so it won't surface to strangers on its own. Share it when you want to, keep it to yourself when you don't.
If you don’t opt-in to display your name on the Impact Explorer, a generic “Your Impact” vs “[Your Name]’s Impact will appear.
Yes. If you opt-in to display your name on your Impact Explorer, you’ll see a “Download Certificate” link in your Impact Explorer which gives you a PDF certificate that can be printed, saved, or shared. If you do not opt-in to have your name displayed on your Impact Explorer, but would like a PDF certificate, please contact us at customerservice@bullfrogpower.com and we’ll be able to help.
Your confirmation email contains a summary of your purchase, including payment details. Your Impact Explorer is a digital record of your planting, including the full details of your specific tree or kelp purchase.
No. Your Impact Explorer is accessible through our Bullfrog website. No account, login, or app is required to access it. If you’d like to save it to your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, you can select “Add to wallet” on your Impact Explorer.
Yes. You can share your Impact Explorer with friends, colleagues, on social media, or in sustainability reports. Anyone who opens the link will be able to view your verified certificate and the details behind it.
We'll send you a direct link by email as soon as your purchase is complete. You can also visit the Bullfrog Nature site anytime and search by an order ID. No account or login needed.
Your Impact Explorer is accessible to anyone you share it with. To find one, you need the order ID it's tied to, so it won't surface to strangers on its own. Share it when you want to, keep it to yourself when you don't.
Each product comes with an Impact Explorer. Buy one product and you'll have one Impact Explorer. Buy two products in a single order, and you'll have two. Subscribe monthly, and a brand-new Explorer is created every time your subscription renews, each one tied to that month's planting.
Once you’ve made more than one Bullfrog Nature purchase, they all live together in your personal Impact Gallery which houses all your plantings. Your first purchase with a single product takes you straight to that Explorer. The moment you have more than one, your Impact Gallery will be automatically created.
Purchasing
You can purchase directly through the Bullfrog Nature section on the Bullfrog Power website. Select a single unit or a bundle, complete your purchase, and you’ll receive a confirmation email with a link to your digital certificate (Impact Explorer).
Due to the unique nature of each product, pricing varies depending on the project type and location. For each project, you can choose a one-time purchase (in increments of 1, 3, or 5 for trees and 1, 3, 5, or 10 for kelp) or a monthly purchase (same increments). Pricing discounts are applied to purchases above one unit, and deeper discounts are applied to monthly purchases. Visit the project pages for specific pricing.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, and all payments are processed through Shopify's secure checkout. Your information is encrypted in transit, and we never store or have access to your full card number.
Yes. Bundle options are available at checkout, allowing you to plant multiple trees or kelp at once. A great option for gifts, milestones, or personal goals!
Yes. On our website you can select which of Bullfrog Nature’s active projects you’d like to support. Each project page includes project-level details, including the species supported, location, and environmental impact, so you can pick the one that resonates most with you.
Due to the nature of planting products, purchases are final and cannot be cancelled or refunded. Please refer to our Cancellation and Refund Policy at https://bullfrogpower.com/policies/.
You’ll receive an order confirmation by email shortly following your purchase, along with a link to your Impact Gallery and Impact Explorers.
Plantings take place during each project’s natural and optimal planting window, so the exact timing depends on the project you choose and the time of year you purchase. Your Impact Explorer shows the planting window for your specific purchase.

The wallet pass is a digital card version of your purchase that you can save directly to your phone’s wallet app, given you quick, offline access to your purchase details. Find your custom wallet pass in your Impact Explorer.
Each renewal creates a brand-new individual Impact Explorer for that month's planting, verified, digitized, and added to your Impact Gallery. The longer you subscribe, the bigger your gallery and impact grow.
Subscriptions & monthly plantings
In addition to one-time purchases, you can choose a monthly plan that plants new trees or kelp on a recurring basis. Monthly plans receive the deepest pricing discounts and are a simple way to grow your impact over time.
With a monthly plan, your payment method is charged automatically at the start of each billing cycle for the quantity you selected, until you change or cancel it.
You can manage your subscription using the management link provided in your confirmation email. Cancelling stops future plantings and charges; any plantings already made on your behalf remain yours and stay verified.
Your upcoming order email is a preview of your next subscription charge, so taxes may not appear in the total at this stage. Taxes are calculated and applied when your payment is processed, based on the applicable tax rates (HST/GST). Your final order confirmation will show the correct taxes and total charged to your payment method. You will receive a purchase confirmation receipt the day your credit card is charged.
Yes. Each planting in your subscription is individually verified, with a unique Impact Explorer generated for every planting. Month by month, your collection of verified plantings continues to grow. View and access all your plantings in your Impact Gallery.
Carbon offsets and reporting
No. A carbon offset typically represents one tonne of CO₂ already removed or avoided and is used to “offset” your emissions. A Bullfrog Nature purchase represents your sponsorship of a tree or kelp planting that will sequester carbon over time, a forward-looking contribution to verified ecological restoration. If you’re interested in purchasing carbon offsets or require carbon offset credits for compliance or reporting purposes, contact us at customerservice@bullfrogpower.com to discuss our carbon offsets.
Your Impact Explorer provides verified proof of a real planting, including the species supported, location, and estimated CO₂ impact. Many individuals and organizations include tree and kelp planting contributions in their sustainability disclosures. For formal carbon accounting and compliance reporting, please contact customerservice@bullfrogpower.com to confirm how this type of purchase fits within your framework.
