It takes a lot of energy to bring TIFF's films and events to life, from the screens and projectors to the lights and equipment behind the scenes. With screenings taking place across many venues, installing renewable-energy infrastructure at each location isn’t practical. Bullfrog Power offers events like TIFF a way to support renewable energy without needing to install their own wind turbines or solar panels.
Since 2024, Bullfrog Power has proudly sponsored the Toronto International Film Festival as Official Sustainability Partner, and this year we're back for its September 10–20, 2026 run. As part of the partnership, all screenings at TIFF are bullfrogpowered with 100% renewable energy. Bullfrog Power’s green electricity sources put clean, pollution-free electricity onto the grid to match the amount of conventional electricity used at each screening.
Attendees can also take action beyond renewable energy by choosing to offset the carbon emissions associated with their travel to and from TIFF with Bullfrog Power’s high-quality carbon offsets. Carbon offsets were developed to channel financing toward verified emissions-reduction projects, particularly in the Global South, where climate finance can support projects that reduce emissions while contributing to sustainable development.
What does it mean to be bullfrogpowered?
Bullfrog Power gives homes, businesses, and events a way to choose renewable energy without changing their existing electrical setup. When you bullfrogpower a location, Bullfrog Power puts renewable electricity onto the grid on your behalf to match the amount of conventional electricity you use.
Our green electricity comes from renewable sources including wind, solar, and low-impact hydro. By choosing green electricity, customers help support the development of new renewable energy projects while displacing emissions associated with conventional electricity use.
Bullfrog Power also offers green natural gas, a renewable alternative to conventional natural gas for homes and businesses. It comes from biogas, an energy-rich gas produced when organic waste decomposes at landfills and wastewater treatment plants. By capturing and cleaning this biogas, it can be used as renewable heat instead of fossil-fuel-based natural gas.
