Solar | Community project we're supporting

Partner: City of Nelson

Thanks in part to support from bullfrogpowered customers, the City of Nelson is now home to Canada’s first solar community solar garden project. The 60 kW installation employs an innovative “virtual net-metering” subscription model to give Nelson citizens a way to support community-scale solar. Participants of the project hope to showcase the future of how Canadians can support renewable energy projects in their community.

About our community projects

Activists and organizers across the country are working to transition their communities away from fossil fuels. We created our community-based green energy projects grant to provide critical funding for these local efforts.

All bullfrogpowered customers help fund these small-scale, community-led projects, including solar panels on schools and in Indigenous communities, education and training programs, and a cleantech accelerator.
